Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a partner?

No partners are required for lessons at the Fred Astaire Dance School of Indianapolis.  If you don't have a partner you will dance with your instructor during your private lesson. During group lessons, you will dance with other students in the group class.

What do I wear?

Attire for most functions at the studio is dressy casual. The most important items are your shoes. You should wear shoes that don't slip on your feet and leather soles are best. Rubber soled shoes and tennis shoes are not recommended.

How quickly will I learn to dance?

The answer to this depends on a lot of variables. Will you take more than one lesson a week? Will you practice between lessons? Will you attend the Friday night practice parties? How many steps/dances do you want to learn? Do you want to learn just enough to get by, or do you want to dazzle your friends and be comfortable in any dance environment? And, of course, one's own natural ability will determine the length of time it will take to learn to dance.  One thing is for sure, you will be dancing on your first lesson at the Fred Astaire Dance School of Indianapolis!

How much does it cost?

Your first Private lesson and Practice Party Session is only $10. After that we offer a five private lesson package at a discounted rate. During these lessons you will be introduced to many of the most popular dances.  If you make the decision to continue with your dance training, you simply pay for each individual lesson. There are never any hidden costs. You pay only for the services you choose.  Private lessons, group lessons, and parties are all priced separately.
